Historic Building Repair and Maintenance

Overview

This is one of Manchester’s landmark buildings, a Grade II listed Victorian warehouse conversion with Baroque styling, red-framed windows, adorned with glazed tiles. The apartments have eclectic layouts and some have full-length windows.

The building was suffering from water ingress issues across the roof. The client wished to lay a new roof that would be low maintenance and with a guarantee. We produced a few options and worked with the local conservation officer to best colour-match what was already in place as closely as possible.

A new 20-year guarantee liquid applied waterproofing membrane was installed on top of a tapered insulation system to assist with roof drainage. We obtained listed building consent for the client and complied with approved document Part L. A fascinating and successful project for EKA North.
