Overview

The proposed works were a loft conversion and the removal of an external chimney breast.

Between the notices being served and us being appointed, the Building Owners had begun their enabling works. We advised they put all works directly affecting the Party Wall on hold until we had at least visited the Adjoining Owners to carry out a Schedule of Condition so that we could accurately record the existing condition of the neighbours property. Shortly after visiting site we were able to prepare and serve the Award in a timely manner, allowing the Building Owners to proceed with their works and all neighbourly relations maintained.

Whilst most enabling works were not notifiable under the Act, it is still advisable where possible to wait until the Awards are in place.
