EKA Mid- Year Charity Update

The first half of 2016 has seen the EKA team active in fundraising and sporting achievements:

  • Dorian Smith travelled to Cyprus to complete his third marathon (to Celebrate turning 30!) in a very respectable 4 hours and 26 minutes and 15 seconds. His efforts have so far raised £710.00 for Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
  • Martin Barsely stayed closer to home but successfully scaled Ben Nevis.
  • Zoë Walhiem Completed a 2 mile swim in Lake Windermere in 1.25hrs. Sponsorship for the event raised funds for Macmillan Cancer.
  • As a team, we have continued to sponsor Msizi Africa to aid their sustainable food programme in Lesotho, although we’re yet to win the quiz!
  • Jake, Dorian, Matt, Henry, and honorary Team Member Bruce took part in The Capstone Cup,  5-aside football Tournament with Knight Frank to support the work of Land Aid, Cancer Research and Mary’s Meals.

Helping clients make their properties more energy efficient

Our entire approach to surveying is to help clients make their properties more energy efficient, saving long-term cost and environmental damage.

We take that attitude back to our own workplace. We have incorporated a paperless office within EKA, and have targeted 100% recycling of paper and general waste by the end of 2014. This has clear environmental advantages, but also creates greater efficiency and effectiveness in the workplace.

We also encourage our team to travel by bike and train. We use public transport to reach all our London meetings and encourage our clients to do the same.

Charitable Contributions

We also make regular charitable contributions. We are incredibly privileged to be sponsoring Misizi Africa, an orphanage in Lesotho. Misizi Africa works with communities in Africa to support orphans, providing them with a nutritious diet, shelter and access to education. It is an incredible cause and one we are very proud to support.

CRASH Charity

The Earl Kendrick team are very much looking forward to taking part in the Dragon Boat Challenge to support CRASH charity.

Starting early afternoon on June 25th we will battle it out over a 200m race course against around 40 other teams, aiming to become top crews in the industry!

CRASH is the construction and property industry’s charity for homeless people; they offer practical help that focuses on improving the buildings used by homeless men and women.

Help is provided by the charity in three ways:

  • Providing on-site professional expertise
  • Supplying free building materials
  • Awarding cash grants

Your sponsorship of the Dragon Boat Challenge will go directly to homelessness projects that help men and women affected by the experience of being homeless. Thanks to your generosity CRASH can help improve the buildings these people desperately need to address their problems, gain confidence and integrate back into society.

By sponsoring our Dragon Boat Challenge, you are helping to make a huge difference to the lives of homeless men and women throughout the UK.

More information on the charity can be found here: www.crash.org.uk Registered Charity No. 1054107
