Assistant Building Surveyor - EK Licence to Alter

The Role

The role is to assess licence to alter applications across a variety of property portfolios for multiple clients across London. You would work to hourly rates or flat fees according to fee proposals signed off by our clients. As an Assistant / Building Surveyor, you will be expected to undertake tasks to support the operations of the business, including networking with potential clients and developing different service offerings.

The successful candidate will be provided with a salary based target for fee generation each month. You will receive ongoing training on the in-house practice management system to support your role.

The position involves regular site visits and can be physically demanding. Hours will be flexible and any contract offered will reflect this. The appointed candidate will report directly to the Director of EK Licence to Alter.

Tasks within this role will include, but not limited to the following:

• Obtaining a clear client brief
• Maintaining accurate records on the practice management system
• Complying with RICS guidance in a professional manner
• Client liaison – both face to face and via Zoom/Microsoft Teams etc.
• Managing the client relationship proactively
• Preparation and issue of technical reports according to the corporate style.
• Undertaking site visits for inspection and monitoring purposes.
• Consultation with leaseholders, designers, contractors, managing agents and solicitors
• Producing one off reports on an ad hoc basis
• Billing and credit control
• Supporting the business development/marketing team by providing contacts, and input into the fee proposal process, plus active social media presence to promote our services and maintain our profile in the sector

Ideal Candidate Requirements

• Degree or equivalent in Building Surveying / Building Conservation or Construction related subject
• Minimum 2 years working in the Built Environment
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to operate effectively in a supportive team
• Highly computer literate (Microsoft skills essential)
• Have experience in using social media, especially LinkedIn
• Full UK Driving Licence (not essential)
