Property owners and managers are faced with the challenging tasks of commissioning external wall surveys, interpreting advice given, raising vast sums of service charge monies for remediation works, and attempting to get projects off the ground. Understandably, freeholders, RMCs and managing agents are endeavouring to do this at a time when many building surveying firms and other consultancy practices are unable to obtain the appropriate cover from their professional indemnity insurers.

What specifically are the EK Cladding Consultancy Services?

Our services include:

  • Façade Risk Assessments: We will arrange the review of O&M manuals and organise visual and if necessary invasive façade assessments to ascertain the buildup of an external wall system. We will coordinate the testing for aluminium composite materials (ACMs) or other combustible materials within the wall structure.
  • Feasibility Studies and Design: We appoint and coordinate experts to review risk assessments and design alterations to existing façades or conceive systems to facilitate the wholesale replacement of external wall systems.
  • Statutory Compliance: We will help you decipher and comply with the current Building Regulations.
  • EWS1 form coordination: We will source an appropriate expert, qualified and insured, to complete your EWS1 form, which is intended to record and confirm to mortgage companies the external wall construction of residential apartment buildings over 18 metres in height.
  • Project Management: We will manage your cladding remediation project as contract administrator, coordinating all experts and stakeholders. We will facilitate meetings to ensure all stakeholders receive clear and concise information.
  • Government funding applications: We can assist with applications for government funding for ACM and non-ACM cladding remediation. Registration for the government’s £1Bn Building Safety Fund is open and has been extended to 30 June 2021. If your building is eligible for funding, we can help you prepare a full application.
