Building Surveyor - EK RCA (North or Midlands)

Job Overview:

An additional building surveyor is required for Earl Kendrick’s Reinstatement Cost Assessment team who form part of the company’s group of award winning building surveying teams across the country.

Due to growing workloads in the North and Midlands, we are now looking for an additional building surveyor based in the midlands or north of England who can help with the expansion of the team.

If you aren’t familiar, a Reinstatement Cost Assessment calculates the rebuild value of a property if it were destroyed, usually by something like a fire or a huge storm including for all professional fees, demolition and site clearance costs, and of course the costs of the bricks and mortar as well. It completely ignores land values and is therefore unrelated to the market sale value of a property (i.e. house prices).

You will be working alongside an expert director and the team, who have a proven track record in insurance and RCAs. They have developed tried and tested procedures to give accurate and reliable reports that are easy to understand, so that the value can be easily communicated to clients and insurers. Your role will mainly include helping to produce Reinstatement Cost Assessment’s through site inspection methods across the country, with a focus on the midlands or north, depending on where you are based.

You don’t have to be a building surveyor by “trade” but if you are and you want to get qualified, APC support and rotation can be provided into other teams who do major works and more general building surveying. If you aren’t a building surveyor, you might be working as a property manager, an estate agent or insurance broker looking to do something a little different!

The role would suit someone who;

• Is comfortable primarily being a remote worker.
• Is based around the Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Lincoln, Sheffield, Leeds or Yorkshire area (to expand areas not currently operating in)
• Is self-motivated, self-reliant, and keen to build their career and ‘go up the ladder’.
• Has brilliant communication and inter-personal skills
• Has a ‘can do’ attitude, a focus on problem solving, and a learning-through-experience attitude.
• Is business minded and acutely aware of their own contribution to overheads, profit and loss.
• Ideally has an RICS accredited degree in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying or Planning & Development
• Perhaps has a CILA membership or past experience in the property management, loss adjusting or insurance broking world.
• Ideally has knowledge of or contacts within Asset Management and Property Management, especially in the midlands/north of England.
